Customers / Success Stories / GE Capital Bank

Credit scoring and loan agreements accessible
online by GE Capital Bank's Partners.

A fully-owned subsidiary of General Electric
group, GE Capital Bank specialises in providing personal loans
through a network of Partners such as major retailers, estate
agents, and car dealers.

 |
| Presentation... |
GE Capital
Bank offers a full range of credit options: consumer,
revolving, motor, property, etc.
Before the Extranet was established, the Partner would
ring GE Capital Bank, details would be fed in centrally,
the customer credit scored and then the loan agreement
would be sent to the Partner.
The Partner would complete the contract at the point of
sale and finally return it to GE Capital Bank.
Credit scoring for Partners via the Internet.
To simplify the process and to improve business efficiency,
GE Capital Bank decided to offer their Partners a simple
tool
that would allow a credit application to be made at the
point of
sale via the Internet.
GE Capital Bank's aim was to enable its Partners to:
offer their customers "instant" credit facilities
online;
reduce administrative costs;
make use of existing legacy data without the Partners
having to pay anything for its deployment or any updates;
personalise the credit-scoring application by using
the Partner's logo.
Just 3 months to develop an application
and transfer skills.
The project was begun by the IT Department which decided
to set up a pilot scheme and put it before the Board.
SCORT was chosen to implement this pilot which was to
cover thirty 3270 screens.
After gaining approval, the definitive project was completed
jointly by SCORT's consultants and a team from GE Capital
Bank and a smooth transfer of skills was able to take
place.
From that point GE Capital Bank took full responsibility for all future development work. |
 |
| Architecture... |
The Partner
connects to the Web server via the Internet and identifies
himself. Once accessed, the SCORT server connects to the
central credit-scoring application at GE Capital Bank.
Transactions are made in screen mode (TN3270) and/or message
mode (MQ Series) by integrating the layout style of the
requesting Partner.
To generate secure documents (PDF), data is extracted
from the 3270 screens and formatted on the SCORT server
by the SCORT Printing Tool, before being sent to the Partner
for printing. |
 |
| Benefits of
the application... |
According
to Yann Ménard, e-Business Director at GE Capital
Bank: "the advantages resulting from
the deployment of the Extranet are clear :
the Partner can access GE Capital Bank's central information
system without neither the installation of software at
his site nor any specific trainin;
SCORT is a very robust and competitive solution which
encourages the formation of new partnerships for GE Capital
Bank;
the use of the credit-scoring application and the instant
reply to the customer's request gives the Partner a significant
commercial advantage;
real-time integration is a factor in reducing administration
costs." |
 |
| The future... |
GE Capital
Bank is looking at the opportunity of providing new services
based on the SCORT solution, in particular for:
accessing applications for property loans aimed at estate
agency Partners;
standardising browser access to CICS applications for
all the company's locations (Intranet). |
